Envoys are an ambiguous class of "super soldiers" who were created alongside the technology of the Human Race hundreds of years before the plot of the TV show. They worked well with the technology that was advanced over time and may have been created as a result of it. There abilities mainly center around the technology of the [[Cortical Stack]] and the consequential ability to needle-cast to off-world destinations. They are good fighters and could make full use of movement between sleeves for combat as they don't experience Sleeve Sickness -which is the period of disorientation that someone feels after their stack is placed in another sleeve. Their ability is undisputed and this is exemplified when [[Laurens Bancroft (TV)|Laurens Bancroft]] meets with [[Takeshi Kovacs (TV)|Takeshi Kovacs]] for the first time, with Bancroft stating <i>"There are very few of us now who saw first-hand what the Envoys could do."</i><h2 data-rte-spaces-before="1" data-rte-spaces-after="1" data-rte-empty-lines-before="1"> History </h2>There is no specific timeline of events, but nearly all the Envoys have been killed, with Takeshi and his sister [[Reileen Kawahara (TV)|Reileen]] being the only known remaining Envoys. Abilities
The abilities of the Envoys are few, but powerful. There is some ambiguity as to the nature of their 'spatial awareness' ability -for want of a better term.
- Lack of Sleeve-sickness - Envoys do not experience sleeve-sickness, which makes them perfect for short notice combat in off-world settlements as they can needle-cast in and be ready for combat immediately
- 'Spatial awareness'/Super hearing - Kovacs demonstrates his ability to hear or detect enemies that are otherwise unseen in both Episode 1 and Episode 9, the process looks similar to echo location or sonar, and it allows for an Envoy to precisely locate an enemy and engage in combat more effectively
