Hi Echo Spy! I'm Mike and I am the Content Team Lead with Fandom's Movie and TV Vertical. With Altered Carbon Season 2 and the anime due to air this year, I was wondering if you planned to return to activity on the wiki and if so, how best can we assist with keeping the wiki up to date with content?
I'm afraid that due to my busy schedule and other commitments to other wikis, I am looking to give up my admin rights and was hoping to appoint a new admin who has shown good work/editing ethic and obviously shows interest in staying long term. It's only fair to this community and its users that they find a better admin than I could provide. Unfortunately not many editors have stayed long term plus those that have been here long enough and whom I thought would be good admins were approached but weren't interested.
Today I was approached by a user, Renncast, interested in becoming the next admin but we both agreed he needs more time editing. However, if he does manage to meet the requirements for a wiki adoption I will relinquish my rights and give it to him.
If you have any ideas or plans you wish to do in the meanwhile please feel free to share or even implement it.
I think you should revisit the 'need more admins' blog. I'm good with the technical stuff but since I just showed up yesterday you should probably promote User:Marcusgan11, seems to be the only person still active under Special:ListUsers.
Ah yes - This wiki definitely need more admins who are way more active than me. In fact, I think I'm going to relinquish my own rights - it's only fair since I am so busy and this wiki does demand a better leader than my time can provide. I think I previously asked Marcusgan11 though I remember I didn't get a response or I got a vague one at least - though it was long ago.
Nonetheless I do hope you do stick around and if you're really interested in this wiki and plan on staying long term you could make a wonderful admin.
The discuss response Marcusgan11 gave showed concern that, at the time, he did not have enough edits to qualify for admin. I'm trying not to bother you with my Topnav suggestions, or update for File:Wiki.png since you're busy with other stuff right now. MysticalArchAngel did a better job with most of the style/layout stuff I usually focus on, and with all the other wikis I'm tending I didn't really feel I'd make use of the full admin abilities myself, maybe just content mod permissions.
Hey. Me again. Hope I am not annoying you- but I have two more pages that need to be looked at. One is Elias Ryker (TV) and the other is Father Kovacs. Both these pages already have existing pages on the wiki in Elias Ryker and Jakub Kovacs. I have done some editing on the articles (info boxes and such) before it hit me that there were already existing pages.
Hey Marcus! I apologize profusely for the delay in replying. I would rather you copy the onto the Elias Ryker (TV) and Jakub Kovacs page. While I didn't intend to, it looks like we have a format in naming characters "Name (TV)" and "Name (Books)". Which means renaming Jakub Kovacs to "Jakub Kovacs (TV)"
Hello Echo Spy. Just thought I would drop by and say hello and bring up something I have noticed that I feel would improve the wiki and that is the issue of duplicated pages. I don't want to seem like I am picking holes but I have noticed at least two subjects have multiple pages. One is sleeves, which have two pages in Sleeve and Sleeves. Another in the phrase Meths/Methuselah's which also has two pages in Meth and Meths. To me, this would bring confusion to new members (as it did to me). A quick analyses of the pages should show which is the better page to keep.
I hope I don't seem pushy by bringing this up. My aim is to improve the wiki.
In a world full of AI's and Meth's characters, the term "Alive Characters" can be a bit confusing, but personally, I would keep it, if for no other reason than to distinguish between characters who are appearing in the here and now and those who are merely figments of a particular persons psyche.
Personally, I would add the category "Candidate for Deletion" for use in cases such as the whole Sleeve/Sleeves duplicated page scenario, so that users can have a chance to discuss (if they wish) the merits of a particular page. It is a category used on the Fear the Walking Dead wiki (where I am an admin) so that admins and regular users can debate the merits of a particular page. (There is, of course, discussion between the admins, in private, about the page, the length of time allowed for discussion etc before a page is deleted). In short- a page that a particular user feels serves no purpose is marked for deletion. If no one can come up with a valid reason for it's survival or no one comments about it at all, it is deleted.
I know :P And yeah, I'm using the FIL Wiki wiki navigation as a format but I'm planning on making it different, like "Organizations", "Worlds", etc. I haven't updated it because I'm not entirely finished with Season 1, so I'm adding what I know so far.
Hopefully it will be good! Right now I'm focusing on building up the foundation - a good mainpage, actors pages, book pages,and characters. I hope it isn't for vain and the wiki can get great editors like you!
